The Terrier Mini Rig has the following capabiities:
- Ability to drill up to 15m
- Can perform conventional SPT testing and tube extraction
- Barge availability for drilling over water.
Dynamic Probe Tests
The Terrier Mini Rig also has Dynamic Probe capability that drives a cone into the ground giving a continuous record of driving resistance with depth. The results can be correlated to SPT or other soil properties.
The Dynamic Probe is a rapid, inexpensive method that can:
- Probe to approximately 20m depth
- Penetrate hard or dense soils or weak rock
- Provide infill information between bore holes
Environmental Sampling
Environmental Sampling can be undertaken using the Dando Terrier Mini Rig. Concrete and Asphalt surface coring can be carried out. Drilling is by percussion sampling with no fluids used. Samples are contained within plastic liners so there is no cross contamination. There is no excess spoil with all soil from the borehole collected in the sample tube liner. The borehole can be cased as drilling proceeds. The small rig size and low mast height is suitable for drilling under canopies and inside buildings. There is a spark arrestor on the exhaust for safe petrol forecourt use. Vegetable oil is used to lubricate the drilling rods with no hydrocarbons used. There is a large borehole diameter cup to 128 mm. Installation of monitoring well can also be carried out.
